Liverpool's Ben Doak continued in a new position for Scotland Under 21s this week. The youngster picked up a well-worked assist.

Ben Doak has looked impressive since breaking into the Scotland U21 setup. The Liverpool forward only turned 18 a week ago but he looks completely comfortable at this level.

In fact, more comfortable than you'd expect. Doak is being used centrally for his country, despite being nominally a winger at club level. He's taking to it remarkably, however.

That was seen in style this week as Scotland U21s recorded a fantastic 2-0 win over their Belgian counterparts. Doak started as a centre-forward - and assisted the second goal.

It's exactly the kind of goal Liverpool will love to see, too. Doak makes it happen by pressing the goalkeeper, timing his chase perfectly and forcing a poor pass.

Scotland pounced on it, quickly moving the ball to Doak in the Belgian box. Liverpool's prospect then plays a cute pass on the turn to find Lyall Cameron, who finishes smartly for 2-0.

It remains to be seen whether Doak can play this role for Liverpool down the line but it's certainly food for thought. After all, this is exactly the kind of goal you'd expect from peak Roberto Firmino - a press and then some guile in the box to create for a teammate.

Doak, though, has a long way to go before he's a regular at Liverpool. But given he does have a long way to go, the Reds will be sure not to tie him down to one position so early in his career.

This may well be Doak's future - a tricky, central player with the engine for a press. Whatever his future does look like, it's certainly bright and the Scot remains one of the biggest prospects Liverpool have had in years. Whatever position he ends up playing.
