Barcelona willing to go 'all in' for Mohamed Salah this summer

Barcelona and Xavi are set to make Liverpool's Mohamed Salah a priority in the upcoming transfer window.

With Liverpool and Salah yet to agree on a new contract, it opens the door up for the Reds to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp and FSG will definitely want to keep hold of the Egyptian but if he is asking for crazy wages then they might be forced to cash in on him considering his contract is up at the end of next season.

One club that seems to be interested in Salah is Barcelona. The Catalonians have a history of signing Liverpool's best players so they could be up to their old tricks once again.

According to Javier Miguel of Diario AS, as cited by LFC Transfer Room, Salah is Xavi's 'Plan B’ if they miss out on signing Erling Haaland, which is looking likely.

The report claims that the Barcelona manager is willing to go 'all in' on signing the Egyptian as he is a fan of Salah's flexibility upfront.

Joan Laporta, Barcelona's club president, is willing to back Xavi financially as they are preparing to make an offer to Liverpool.

Miguel also goes on to say that the Spanish side have made a first approach to the Egyptian's entourage and talks have been 'very positive'.

Barcelona believe that an offer of £60-70m should be enough to secure Salah's services for next season.

Anfield Watch Verdict

This is a very strange story indeed. We wouldn't believe it if it wasn't for the fact that Javier Miguel has been quite reliable since Xavi took over and he's apparently got close ties to the Barcelona manager.

However, we're not entirely sure that Salah would appreciate being Barcelona's 'Plan B' as it has been reported.

Also, £60-70m seems very cheap for the best player in the world. You are going to get four to five years out of the Egyptian, so surely Liverpool can't sanction a deal for that price.

Who knows, this could be more agent talk from Salah's representatives to make Liverpool up their contract offer. However, we know that this hasn't worked in the past so it's a risky move indeed.

With Klopp also being involved in transfers and contract deals, he may not take too kindly to the Egyptian's agent trying to hold the club at ransom.

We'll have to see how this situation plays out and hope that it isn't true.
