Saturday afternoon saw Liverpool return to the top of the Premier League table following a comeback win against Brighton at Anfield.

It was great for the Reds at Anfield, but it was also a good afternoon for one on loan Liverpool star.

Whilst Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah were rescuing the three points for Liverpool, Stefan Bajcetic was putting in a shift 800 miles away in Salzburg.

Bajcetic is one of a number of talented prospects currently out on loan from Liverpool and thrived on Saturday afternoon under the guidance of former Reds’ assistant manager Pep Lijnders.

The 20-year-old will no doubt be thrilled to see his parent club go top of the league, but he has plenty to be proud of following his performance.

Stefan Bajcetic vs Grazer AK

Although the youngster has received some criticism for his performances since arriving in Austria, he showed once again against GAK just what he has to offer.

One highlight came in the 60th minute, when Bajcetic dribbled through the entire GAK midfield before being brought down just outside of the penalty area.

Bajcetic completed 39/46 passes, two key passes and four dribbles, as well as winning 64.7% of his duals.

Despite Bajcetic’s impressive performance, Salzburg were unable to break the deadlock against GAK and the game finished 0-0, leaving Lijnders’ side eight points off top with two games in hand.

Liverpool’s loanees

The Reds currently have a number of youngsters including Bajcetic, Lewis Koumas, Owen Beck and Ben Doak out on loan.

Although at some clubs a loan move can mean any chance of becoming a regular is gone, at Liverpool there is a clear path to the first team.

Current first team players such as Harvey Elliott, Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah and Tyler Morton all spent time away from the club on loan before breaking through into the first team.

This will encourage the on-loan Reds and is proof that they can still play a big part for Liverpool in the future.

If Bajcetic continues to put in performances like he did on Saturday, his return will be sure to give Arne Slot a selection headache in the midfield.
