"As a fan" - Martin Skrtel's opinion on the Klopp era

Former Liverpool centre-back Martin Skrtel has recently given his opinion on the Jurgen Klopp era.

The German joined the Reds back in October 2015. Since then, Liverpool have won the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup, FA Cup and Community Shield.

With that being the case, Skrtel has praised Klopp for the job he has done at Anfield.

"As a fan, I can just be happy that we brought Jurgen into the club because since he came, I think everything changed. And also the trophies came – and this is most important," he told Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by AW's Twitter account.

"In the past years, Liverpool became what they deserved – to be one of the best teams and best clubs in the world. We have to say a big part of it is Jurgen, not only him but also the players, the club, the fans and everybody.

"I'm just happy because obviously I was there nine years and it wasn't as successful as Liverpool is at the moment. But once a Red, always a Red. I'm just happy about the progress the club made in the past years.

"I knew him (Klopp) when he was at Borussia Dortmund, not personally but as a coach. He was successful there, he was successful at Mainz, so we knew a good manager was coming to the club. He's a big character."

Anfield Watch Verdict

There is no denying that Klopp has worked his magic at Liverpool. It has been unbelievable to watch the Reds compete for all the major honours in the game over the past few years.

Klopp is contracted until the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign. So, hopefully the German can win a few more trophies during his time at Anfield.

The Reds competed for the quadruple last season. Therefore, anything is possible. Also, it's nice to hear Skrtel speak positively about the club.

The defender obviously enjoyed his time at Anfield.
