"Arthur needs football" - Jurgen Klopp on integrating Melo into the side

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has recently spoken about the club's newest signing Arthur Melo.

Last week, the Reds acquired the midfielder from Juventus on loan for the entire 2022-23 campaign. With that being the case, Melo is yet to make his debut for the club.

Ahead of tonight's Champions League group stage clash between Napoli and Liverpool at the San Paolo, Klopp has spoken about the 26-year-old.

He told the club's official website the following: "Arthur needs now just football - and training, especially, that's how it is.

"He wasn't in team training for a while at Juve, so he needs proper team training - and that's what we are doing with him.

"Can he play minutes? Yes. Should he play a full game? No, because he needs to get used to the intensity in each competition.

"It's not like in the Champions League you have to work less than in the Premier League. Not at all, especially not here.

"He is doing well, he is really giving his absolute all in training, we have to be careful with him as well and then we will see whether we can use him."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Klopp is spot on. Training will allow Melo to get up to speed. Klopp would be silly to start the midfielder if he is not up to scratch.

We look forward to seeing Melo in action when the time is right. It is always exciting to see a new face take to the pitch for your club.

Melo has played for the likes of Juventus and Barcelona, so he obviously possesses quite a bit of ability.

But, only time will tell if he is to take to the English game.
