Arsenal vs Liverpool: Why neither team will wear Red on Sunday

Neither Arsenal nor Liverpool will wear red at the Emirates on Sunday for their FA Cup 3rd Round tie. Here's why.

Liverpool travel to take on Arsenal this weekend as they kick-off their FA Cup campaign. It'll be the fourth competition of the season for the Reds - and they're yet to be knocked out of any.

But Sunday will look a little unusual. The game at the Emirates will see neither team wear red, despite it being the home colour for both.

Arsenal, as the home team, will wear an all-white kit instead. They'll do so as part of their 'No More Red' campaign against knife crime in London, something they've done since 2022.

“No More Red provides a unique opportunity to highlight almost four decades of our local community work that has helped to keep thousands of young people safe," says Freddie Hudson, Head of Arsenal in the Community.

Liverpool do technically have the opportunity to wear their red kit here, then, but will instead wear their purple third kit. Wearing red when Arsenal are showing their 'no more red' campaign would be a little bad, after all.

An unfamiliar look to the game on Sunday, then.

Liverpool go into Sunday's game with their team looking different, too. Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo are now with their respective national teams as they embark on continental competitions.

Jurgen Klopp will also likely miss Dominik Szoboszlai, too, who left the pitch against Newcastle United holding his hamstring. And that's with the likes of Andy Robertson, Kostas Tsimikas and Joel Matip all out long-term.

The boss will have to be a little inventive, then, as he tries to find the right formula to defeat Mikel Arteta's men on their home patch. Here's what we expect Klopp to go with on Sunday ahead of his update.
