Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has praised Reds shot-stopper Alisson.

The club signed the Brazil international from Roma for a transfer fee of £56.25 million back in the summer of 2018.

Since then, Alisson has kept 85 clean sheets in 177 appearances for Liverpool's first-team. The goalkeeper has been in solid form for the Reds this season.

Alisson has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.79 across the 2021-22 campaign. The 29-year-old is also capable of playing out from the back, which Ramsdale recently touched on.

As quoted by HITC, he told Peter Crouch’s Podcast the following: “Look at Ederson for Man City, the number of times he’s outside of the box playing to his centre-halves and one of his defenders are in midfield.

"Alisson is not as high but a few years ago he chipped a ball over a striker’s head.

"That wouldn’t happen and that shouldn’t happen, but he has that confidence and it’s the belief from the coaching staff that he’s been given to say ‘go and play’, I don’t look at keepers in that sort of sense, I look more at their mentality and I look at the best in the world for me, like (Manuel) Neuer, he doesn’t care."

Anfield Watch Verdict

As Ramsdale pointed out, Alisson does take the odd risk with the ball at his feet. However, the Brazil international is so good with his feet that he is rarely in danger.

On another note, Alisson is contracted until the end of the 2026-27 season, which highlights that his career is far from finished.

Hopefully the shot-stopper can continue performing to a high level for Liverpool. The only issue with Alisson being tied down to a long-term contract is that Caoimhin Kelleher, who is a promising young goalkeeper, can't get in the team.

But, it is a good problem to have.
