Arne Slot will be very pleased about what happened to Federico Chiesa after his first Liverpool training session.

It's been a busy few days for Chiesa after completing his move to Liverpool on Thursday.

The Reds only opened negotiations with Juventus with just a few days remaining of the transfer window. But within days they agreed an initial fee of just £10m for Chiesa and the Italian was on his way to fly over for a medical.

Within just 24 hours, Liverpool wrapped up his signature and confirmed his arrival at the club.

Since then, he's been able to train with his teammates for the first time and acclimatise to life at the AXA training centre.

What Arne Slot will be delighted about after Chiesa's first training

Chiesa looked in good spirits during his first training session with the team, but it remains to be seen whether he will be involved in the game against Manchester United on Sunday.

Slot revealed in his press-conference ahead of the game that it was unlikely Chiesa would be included in the squad to travel to Old Trafford.

The Italian hasn't featured in a game since his nation were eliminated from Euro 2024 back in June. Since then he's been axed from the Juventus squad and wasn't able to feature in the club's pre-season nor competitive fixtures over the course of the last few weeks.

This means he will need to get back to match fitness and Slot will be delighted to hear that Chiesa will be doing that at the AXA training centre during the international break.

On Friday after Chiesa participated in his first training session with the club Italy announced its squad for their upcoming Nations League matches and Liverpool's new signing was not included in the roster.

Having him now being able to train with Slot for the next couple of weeks is going to be a huge boost for the Reds and it's exactly the kind of news Liverpool's head coach will have wanted to hear.
