Liverpool are reportedly scouting one of the best versatile midfielders in Europe this season. He's an Arne Slot favourite to boot.

Record reports that Liverpool have been watching Orkun Kokcu of Benfica. The Reds sent scouts to watch him over the weekend as Benfica beat Rio Ave 5-0.

It's an easy one for Liverpool to get behind, after all. Kokcu was captain of Feyenoord when they won the Eredivisie title under Arne Slot - he joined Benfica the following summer.

And as Slot looks to build on his impressive start at Anfield, he may well see a lot of value in linking up with his former star. Liverpool are apparently weighing it all up right now.

Liverpool look at Orkun Kocku

Kocku is certainly an interesting player. He's capable of playing all across midfield - just over the last month, he's featured in defensive midfield, attacking midfield and from the left wing.

Slot knows how to get the most out of him, too, and if Liverpool believe he can make the step up to the Premier League, everything about a move makes sense.

We imagine someone would need to move on, but Slot appears a little reluctant to put too much faith in Wataru Endo. It's also unclear how much of a future Tyler Morton has under the Dutchman.

Swapping out two 'maybes' for a player Slot definitely trusts is a smart move. Liverpool are looking into the decision at the very least and Kokcu could be on the agenda for January.

If Liverpool can get him, they'll be signing one of the most productive midfielders outside the top 5 European leagues. Two goals and three assists in under 600 Liga Portugal minutes this season, on the back of 15 combined goals and assists last season.

We're not sure of a price, admittedly, but there's a lot to like about this one.
