Arne Slot has confirmed he will be leaving Feyenoord for Liverpool, with his current club posting a farewell tribute to their boss on social media.

The 45-year-old will take over from the departing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool this summer after agreeing a deal to be named the club's next head coach.

"I can confirm that I will become the trainer there next year," he told a pre-match news conference on Friday.

The official announcement from both clubs is expected after the season ends, with Feyenoord and Liverpool having agreed a €13m compensation package for his services.

With Slot having now confirmed the Liverpool move, the Eredivisie club have now also announced that his time with them is coming to a close.

FEYENOORD CONFIRM ARNE SLOT EXIT

A post from Feyenoord's official X account (formerly Twitter) confirmed Slot's imminent exit, attaching a tribute to the manager they love so dearly in Rotterdam.

The caption alongside the video reads: "The Arne Slot era is coming to an end. Let's enjoy these last moments."

Feyenoord fans had already come to terms with Slot's exit during the club's most recent home game against PEC Zwolle and they were even filmed waving goodbye to their much-loved coach.

However, they will get the chance to say one last farewell this weekend when Feyenoord host Excelsior at De Kuip on Sunday afternoon.

Slot won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord last season having taken them to the Europa Conference League final the campaign prior, and he also won the KNVB Beker (Dutch Cup) this term.

While he will have big shoes to fill at Anfield, Liverpool fans have reason to be optimistic over his appointment, especially following the return of Michael Edwards and Julian Ward behind the scenes.

Liverpool supporters will also be saying goodbye to a cherished club icon this weekend during Klopp's final match in charge against Wolves this Sunday.

There is unlikely to be a dry eye inside Anfield come the full-time whistle, with a special era coming to a close for the Reds.
