Early team news: Arne Slot has AMAZING talent available after surprise decision
Trey Nyoni wasn’t included in Liverpool’s Under 19 squad on Wednesday evening - a surprise from the Reds. He’s suddenly in contention for Arne Slot’s team.
Liverpool Under 19s face their RB Leipzig counterparts on Wednesday in the UEFA Youth League. Trey Nyoni didn’t play, however.
The midfielder was initially in the squad but was then surprisingly left out. No suggestions of injury floated about, either, suggesting this was a tactical move.
And the only real tactical move that involved Nyoni not playing is to save him for something bigger. In other words, the UEFA Champions League fixture later today.
Nyoni has been bouncing around the first-team squad this season, of course, and it’s entirely possible that he gets some minutes in Leipzig. Alexis Mac Allister has had an injruy concern of late, after all, while Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch put in intense shifts vs Chelsea.
Not to mention the fact there’s a massive clash against Arsenal this weekend. Save the players you can afford to.
Trey Nyoni’s potential
We’re incredibly high on Nyoni, believing him to have truly incredible potential. The more first-team football he gets at this stage, the better.
Though, it could be that he’s merely on standby for tonight’s squad. There’s always that possibility - that someone is a minor concern and Slot just wants Nyoni hanging around in the chance he’s needed.
But injuries to others - and there have been a few lately - should free up a squad spot for him. If so, we’ll be rooting for him to get on.
Nyoni is one to watch for the foreseeable future and we’re eager to see how he can develop.
