Antoine Semenyo is DESTINED to join Liverpool
Right now all the focus is on the other 'targets' from Bournemouth.
Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen are the flavours of the month for Liverpool. But what if the best possible signing for the Reds from Bournemouth is someone else?

Okay, that might be a bit of a hyperbole. But at least now I've got your attention.
The reality is that both Kerkez and Huijsen would be brilliant additions for Liverpool as would Antoine Semenyo.
It's almost like Richard Hughes is good at his job, considering he played a role in signing at least two of those players for Bournemouth.
Let's focus on Semenyo. Anfield Watch understands he's also on Liverpool's radar, but he's the Bournemouth target that doesn't really get the attention he deserves.
10 goals and six assists in all competitions for Bournemouth this season is a very good return. It's not mind-blowing but it's the kind of return that catches your attention.
What's more intriguing about Semenyo though are the underlying numbers.

When Liverpool look for attackers, they don't look at the numbers on the surface. They look at the numbers below the surface. These numbers often give you a better picture of a player, especially a player who maybe doesn't play the same system or who plays for a team at a lower level than the Reds.
These underlying numbers are really exciting for Semenyo.
For example, his xG in the Premier League has seen an underperformance of -2.12 so that means his tally for the season should be higher.
In fact, with a bit of coaching, the potential for Semenyo to explode when it comes to his output is tremendous.
Impressively, Semenyo has taken the most shots (112) in the Premier League this season tied with Mohamed Salah.
But unlike the Egyptian who gets around 48% of his shots on target, Semenyo averages just 32.1%.
It's not like he is making the wrong decisions. The vast majority of Semenyo's shots are taken inside the penalty area. Over 70% of his last 75 shots are taken in the 'goal-scoring' zone where players are most likely to score goals from.
He knows how to get in the right areas to find himself in shooting opportunities. He just hasn't been efficient at taking advantage of these moments.
With the right coaching, this can definitely be improved. But his goals will also improve with added volume. His shot-taking frequency is already high, but it could be even higher at Liverpool.
Just by proxy of playing in a better team, Semenyo would be far more likely to find himself in higher quality goal-scoring situations and be better placed to put the ball in the back of the net as the likes of Salah and Gakpo are more likely to draw away defenders and create more openings for the Ghanian.
Obviously, this isn't guaranteed, it may be so that Semenyo has hit his ceiling. But the potential is mouthwatering, especially combined with his unique skillset.
Semenyo is comfortable with either foot, making him capable of playing on either side of the attack. He's one of the most efficient dribblers in the league.
As per Wyscout, out of players who average at least five dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League this season, Semenyo has the best success rate. He completes a whopping 68.39% of his 5.07 attempted dribblers per 90 minutes.
In Slot's system, Semenyo would become a huge asset. His ability to thrive in tight areas and create spaces for his teammates by beating one or two defenders will open up more openings for Liverpool's future no.9 and Mohamed Salah to do what they best.
It would also give Liverpool another asset to breakdown opposition teams who play with a low defensive block.
On top of this, Semenyo provides the off the ball defensive work-rate required in Slot's pressing system. He has won the most possessions in the opposition's final third this season (33).
No Premier League forward has averaged more blocked passes per 90 minutes than Semenyo (1.5 per 90).
He's become an integral part of Bournemouth's pressing game and has flourished in this area of his game, even though he has inadvertently picked up a lot of fouls in the process and nine yellow cards.
But this is all part of the main objective - disrupting the opposition's offensive flow.
Semenyo is pretty much tailor made for Slot's system at Liverpool. He also appears to be an admirer of one Reds icon.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Semenyo revealed that he has a Mohamed Salah shirt in his game room next to his darts board.
"I said to him [his brother] I'm going to hit the shirt [Salah] I don't know why I said that. Threw it. It's missed the dartboard and it went right in the middle of the Salah shirt," Semenyo said.
"I've only just got it back now, so I'm a bit more sceptical when I'm throwing it."
That's got to mean something in terms of how much he looks up to the Liverpool legend. The fact that he got the shirt fixed after the darts debacle just goes to show how important that artifact is to the Bournemouth star.

In terms of playing style and suitability, it's fair to say he's pretty much destined to be a Liverpool player. There are few better options in the market for the Reds in their pursuit of a winger this summer.
Sure, Liverpool will be banking on potential but sometimes you have to take gambles and he's got enough quality as he is now for this gamble to be worth it.
