Ange Postecoglou makes 'Happy Days' comparison as he discusses Liverpool fandom
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has suggested his love of Liverpool is a thing of the past as his new side gears up to face the Reds this weekend.
Liverpool travel to the capital for what promises to be their biggest test of the 2023/24 season yet, as they face an in-form Spurs.
Like Jurgen Klopp's team, Tottenham remain unbeaten so far this campaign and have hit the ground running under new manager Postecoglou.
The Greek-born Australian has won admirers for his style of play and personality, while he has previously revealed a boyhood love of Liverpool.
Recently, the former Celtic boss told the BBC: "I always wanted to be a manager. I loved the game. I loved all of it, not just playing. I would get three-month-old Shoot magazines, Roy of the Rovers. I would read everything. I was a massive Liverpool fan, I loved Bill Shankly, I loved the boot room stories."
Meanwhile, back in 2013, before a friendly between the Reds and Postecoglou's then club Melbourne Victory, the Spurs boss even claimed it was the Liverpool that inspired him to be a manager.
"I grew up supporting Liverpool as well and I guess the reason I’m a manager today is because of the football club," he said. “I grew up with the stories of Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley and the Boot Room, Ronnie Moran, Joe Fagan, Roy Evans, all those guys."

However, speaking in his pre-mach press conference ahead of the meeting with Liverpool on Saturday evening, the 58-year-old has tried to distance himself from his former fandom – even likening his love of the Reds to old sitcom Happy Days.
He is quoted by football.london as saying: "It was the 70s so you could have gone one or two ways as they only used to show Liverpool or Man Utd back then. I had a couple of mates went the United way and I went with Liverpool to make it interesting.
"Look, I used to love Happy Days back then but I don't have posters of the Fonz on my wall now."
While Liverpool can expect a big challenge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, they do have a very strong record behind them.
The Reds have not lost to Spurs since 2017, and won nine of the last meetings in all competitions – including the 2019 Champions League final.
