Liverpool's Andy Robertson has provided a fitness update after he caught COVID-19 prior to his first friendly with Scotland.

Robertson missed Scotland's friendly against Poland on Thursday after suffering with COVID but he is now back and ready to captain his country once again.

Speaking to the BBC, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Scotland skipper said that he is hoping to play tomorrow's game against Austria.

"I will go down to Liverpool fresh and good to go for the run-in and that is the most important thing for him [Jurgen Klopp] and the most important thing for the club. Hopefully, I will get another cap tomorrow and that is the most important thing for Scotland," said Robertson.

"The manager of Liverpool supports the boys who go away on international duty, he knows how important it is for all of us.

"He wants us to be sensible of course, but he knows how important it is to us, just like every Liverpool game, and we always make ourselves available for them. He will probably be happy that I have only played one game and not two."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Thankfully Robertson seems to be okay after suffering with COVID-19. If he's fit enough to play tomorrow then he should be ready to start Liverpool's game against Watford on Sunday.

The Liverpool left-back also seems to have shut down claims that Jurgen Klopp 'hates' international football.

It's safe to say the German doesn't like them but outlandish reports in the past about him trying to sabotage international football are clearly false, something Robbo has put to bed in his most recent comments.

Klopp also rested Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah so they could be as fit as possible for their important World Cup Qualifiers with their respective countries.

So hopefully people can stop saying that Klopp hates and doesn't respect international football.
