Andre Trindade remains hopeful of a Liverpool move following the Reds failed offer for the Fluminense midfielder, Anfield Watch has been told.

The Reds, who remain admirers of the Brazil international, had a proposal knocked back by Fluminense during the summer window.

Premier League sides Fulham and West Ham also saw similar offers rejected by the Brazilian side, who wanted to keep Andre for their ongoing Copa Libertadores campaign.

Fluminense will compete in the South American equivalent of the Champions League final next month and are aiming to lift the trophy for the first time in their history

However, the Rio-based club had always been open to accepting offers for Andre but only if the buying club agreed to delay his move until the January window – something none of the interested sides were not prepared to do during the summer.

Anfield Watch understands that Andre is still dreaming of a move to Liverpool, but remains open to all Premier League clubs that have shown an interest so far.

Liverpool ultimately opted to bring in Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart to fulfil their 'number six' spot, but the Japan international turns 31 in February and there could be an ambition to find a player to fit the role longer term.

Over the summer, Anfield Watch was told were told that for €25m (£21.5m), Fluminense would allow Andre to leave for 80% of his economic rights, including future add-ons, but it is likely that the asking price has now risen given the level of interest.

Andre gave an interview to Brazilian outlet GE Globo following the closing of the transfer window, in which talked about the speculation surrounding his future.

“It is obvious that it is normal to receive proposals. Even more so with the team doing well, passing the stage at Conmebol Libertadores, at the top of the Brasileirao,” he said.

“Not just for me, but it must have gotten to others as well. I am happy for the proposals that arrive, but my mind today is focused 100% on Fluminense.”
