Alisson now third-highest earning Liverpool player after pay rise

Alisson Becker became Liverpool's third-highest earning first-team player after a summer pay bump.

According to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool's number one received a 'considerable' increase in his salary this summer, following the triggering of a clause in his existing contract.

The change of wage now puts Alisson behind only Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in terms of Liverpool's top earners.

Alisson was the subject of some interest from the Saudi Pro League this summer, but Anfield Watch was the first to report how the Brazil international shunned the Middle Eastern interest and has no plans to leave Anfield, with his current contract running until 2027.

The Athletic's report also makes it clear that the former Roma stopper, who is a member of Liverpool's five-man leadership group, is happy and settled on Merseyside.

How much does Alisson earn?

Though it is not stated how much Alisson will earn as a result of his new salary increase, the fact that he is now the squad's third-highest earner suggests that he is likely to be on over £200k a week in pre-tax basic pay.

As Liverpool's top earners, Mohamed Salah is widely reported to make £350k a week without bonuses, while captain Virgil van Dijk is thought to earn around £220,000.

32-year-old Thiago Alcantara is also known to be one of the club's highest-paid stars, with some reports suggesting his wage comes to around £200k a week, which if accurate, would set a baseline for Alisson's new pay.

Football finance site Capology claim that vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold (£180k) is also among the Reds' highest earners when it comes to basic weekly wage.

All reported figures related to players salaries are, however, to be taken with a pinch of salt.
