Alisson makes Mo Salah wish after his brace seals derby day win

Alisson Becker has urged Mohamed Salah to keep hunting down Liverpool records after his two goals drove the Reds to a Merseyside derby win in Saturday's early kick-off.

Salah fired home from the spot before finishing off a ferocious counter-attack deep into stoppage time to seal the points for the Reds, retaining the bragging rights over the Blues for the foreseeable future.

Knowing how much this game means to the city of Liverpool, Alisson has praised his teammate for his consistent ability to rise to the occasion and act as the game-changer.

"This guy is amazing," said Alisson of Liverpool's number 11. "I'm so glad to have him in our team.

"I hope he can break all the records that he has in front of him as long as he keeps the red shirt on him!

"Every three points we can get is massive for us. Today was even more special for us as it was a derby.

"We know the importance for the supporters, for the city, for everybody and for us as well.

"We are going to keep fighting and let's see what we can reach. It's a massive one today in the derby."

Yet again, Liverpool were forced to contend with playing the early kick-off straight after the international break - an unenviable position to be in for players who have jet halfway around the world, and therefore get little to no respite before getting thrown straight back into action.

Alisson, as Brazil's number one, is among these players - and given the difficult circumstances he and so many of his teammates were dealt, yesterday's win felt even sweeter.

"It's always tough to come back from the national team and play a 12:30," Alisson added.

"We were travelling a lot, going to South America and playing hard games, but I'm glad we could get the three points.

"That was massive today."
