WATCH: Alexis Mac Allister's brother receives red card for comical last-man foul
The name Kevin Mac Allister is a name Liverpool fans have become familiar with this season – and not just for the Home Alone films.
Alexis Mac Allister's older brother (who was actually named after the Macauley Culkin character) enjoyed a familiar reunion earlier in the campaign, when his side Union Saint-Gilloise were drawn against Liverpool in the Europa League group stages.
The 26-year-old defender played 86 minutes of the Belgian club's 2-0 defeat at Anfield – during which Alexis came on in the second half – while he was also present for Union S-G's 2-1 win for the reverse tie in December.
'What's Kevin been up to since then?' I hear you cry.
Well, on Thursday, the former Argentinos Juniors star was sent off for the clearest red card you are likely to see in a good while after piggybacking on a striker to stop a goalscoring opportunity.
With Anderlecht's Kasper Dolberg bearing down on goal in the first half of the Belgian Cup semi final, Mac Allister who was caught the wrong side of his opponent, improvised his defensive strategy and took a quick ride on the forward's back bringing him swiftly to the ground.
Mac Allister then had the audacity to wag his finger and shake his head as the referee produced a red card.
It seems unlikely he'll be able to get the decision overturned on appeal as his brother did for his own dismissal against Bournemouth earlier this season.
The defender was ultimately a hero of sorts for Union S-G as his side held on to win the game 2-1 and book their place in the Belgian Cup final.
Mac Allister will, however, be home alone for the event... sorry.
