Alexis Mac Allister wondergoal breaks eight-year Liverpool record

Alexis Mac Allister's stunning long-range effort against Fulham has broken an eight-year record at Anfield.

The summer signing scored his first goal in a red shirt during a crazy 4-3 win over the Cottagers in the Premier League, netting Liverpool's second of the game before half-time.

Late goals from Wataru Endo and Trent Alexander-Arnold ensured that Mac Allister's earlier strike wasn't in vain, the Reds completing a remarkable comeback to earn all three points on Sunday afternoon.

Mac Allister's debut Liverpool goal was a thing of beauty. With the ball bouncing towards him, the Argentine let it run across his body before thumping a stunning effort into the far top corner from range.

Bernd Leno was helpless to stop Mac Allister's incredible strike, a goal that he, and the Anfield crowd, will remember for some time.

The World Cup winner has also inadvertently broken a record that has stood for eight years at Anfield with his worldie.

Opta's Michael Reid took to social media to report that: "Alexis Mac Allister's goal travelled 26.8 yards - the longest range by a player's first Premier League goal for Liverpool since Divock Origi v West Brom in December 2015 (32.5 yards)."

Origi's deflected effort from distance saw Liverpool snatch a late point at home to West Brom in a 2-2 draw during Jurgen Klopp's first season on Merseyside.

Mac Allister's strike was a much better effort than Origi's, with the midfielder having perhaps earned himself the December Premier League Goal of the Month award already.

Hopefully, it's the first of many goals in red for the 24-year-old.
