Alexis Mac Allister has said that his first-ever Liverpool goal is also the best of his career to date.

The Argentine midfielder scored the Reds' second in the thrilling 4-3 win over Fulham on Sunday – in which all four of the Reds' strikes were potential goal-of-the-season contenders.

Mac Allister's 27-yard effort was arguably the pick of an impressive bunch and even broke an eight-year record. The number 10's maiden Liverpool goal was hit from the longest range by a player's first Premier League goal for the Reds since Divock Origi vs West Brom back in 2015.

Speaking after the match, Mac Allister called his strike the best of his career to date.

"I had a nice one against Leicester [for Brighton] but it was disallowed," he said, via Liverpoolfc.com. "So I think it was the best goal I scored in my life.

"Not a bad start to my career there in Liverpool as a goalscorer!"

The World Cup winner also claimed that he 'knew' his effort was destined for the top corner as soon as it left his boot.

He continued: "As soon as I hit it, I knew that it was going to be a goal. [It was a] very nice goal, but as I always say, when I play as a No.6 I am not very worried about goals and assists [because] I have other work to do - but it's always nice to score!"

Mac Allister also hailed the impact of Wataru Endo – the man who replaced him in the second half and went on to score the Reds' equaliser.

"I think Endo changed the game, definitely," Mac Allister said. "Because of the goal, and because of how he helped the team to have the right balance as well.

"Maybe when Jürgen took me off, the team was very offensive, and we needed a player like Endo.

"I'm very happy for him. He's a really nice guy and he deserves it."
