Alexis Mac Allister will definitely miss Liverpool's next three games, while he remains a doubt for the rest of 2023, according to reports in his native Argentina.

The midfielder, who joined from Brighton this summer, suffered a cut on his left knee during the 2-0 win over Sheffield United last Wednesday and was subsequently left out of the Reds' 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace at the weekend, with Jurgen Klopp admitting the injury "doesn't look good".

According to TYC Sports, however, Mac Allister has avoided suffering any ligament damage from the incident which required stitches, with the injury merely a 'strong knock'.

Which games will Alexis Mac Allister miss?

The report claims that the midfielder will need 'approximately 15 days of recovery', ruling him out of the the Europa League dead rubber against Union Saint-Gilloise (14/12), as well as the Premier League clash with Manchester United (17/12) and the Carabao Cup quarter final with West Ham (20/12).

Meanwhile, his availability for the final two games of 2023 – against Arsenal (23/12) and Burnley (26/12) – is said to be in doubt.

Posting on Instagram after the Sheffield United game, Mac Allister shared an upbeat update about his injury, writing: "Everything's fine. I got a few stitches, but I'll bounce back soon. We keep going. Come on @liverpoolfc!"

Prior to the Crystal Palace game, Mac Allister had only missed one Liverpool game in the Premier League all season. Fellow summer signing Wataru Endo started the win over Palace in the World Cup winner's absence on Saturday and could now be set for a run in the team at a crunch period in Liverpool's season, as the Reds aim to end the year still at the top of the table and in the semi finals of the Carabao Cup.

In addition, to Mac Allister, the Reds are also currently missing Andy Robertson, Diogo Jota, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago through injury.
