The summer transfer window is well and truly hotting up and we have all the latest Liverpool transfer news today (Sunday June 2).

The Reds are already being linked with multiple targets as they look to retool their squad after the departure of Jurgen Klopp and the arrival of Arne Slot.

Contact made for Antonio Silva

Liverpool have reportedly made contact over an incredibly expensive young centre-back. The Reds aren’t the only ones, however.

Correio da Manha reports that Liverpool have made initial contact with Benfica over Antonio Silva. They're supposedly not the ones leading the race, though, and three Premier League sides, including the Reds, have asked about the player.

Manchester United are one of those, but the suggestion is that Arsenal lead the way. They're eager to sign Silva and hope to wrap up a transfer before the others move forward with their interest.

But there's a major sticking point, naturally. Silva has a €100m release clause in his contract and Benfica feel they could receive a figure close to that - if not the full fee.

Liverpool are ready to push forward with a move for FC Porto's Alan Varela. The defensive midfielder has been consistently linked with the Reds for months now - and they appear to be set.

AS journalist Eduardo Burgos claims Liverpool have intensified their interest in Varela. They're now expected to start talks with Porto 'soon', though it's not a move that would come cheap.

Gordon loves Anfield atmosphere

England star - and former Everton graduate - Anthony Gordon has talked up Anfield in a new video.

Everton fans aren’t exactly happy with Anthony Gordon anyway, thanks to the way he forced through a move to Newcastle United. But the winger has found another way to win them up.

"Yeah, other than St. James's, it's Anfield by far," said Gordon when asked to name the stadium with the best atmosphere. "I think because I'm from the city, it's probably like I grew up watching it.

"But I just think before the game when they sing You'll Never Walk Alone, it's top, top level."

In a lot of ways, this shouldn't be a shock. Gordon grew up a Liverpool fan and was on the books when he was very young before moving to Everton.

And now that he's left the Toffees, he doesn't seem particularly shy about it all. It's an interesting one, too, as Liverpool reportedly want to sign him.

Konate confirms PSG link

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate admits he’s from a family full of Paris Saint-Germain fans but is NOT seeking a transfer back to his home city.

The 25-year-old centre back was linked with a move to PSG earlier this week with the French champions seeking to reinforce their backline.

With only two years left on his current contract, Konate was mentioned as a possible candidate for the Parisians.

Van den Berg criticises club

Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg has hit out at the club after they set an asking price this summer. The Dutchman wants out.

Sepp van den Berg has talked to De Telegraaf this week and he's plainly not happy with his situation at Liverpool. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Mainz, having been at Preston North End the season before that.

“They haven't radiated confidence in me all this time, but they do want to hinder my future," he said. "I want to keep playing weekly and develop myself further.”

Kelleher wants out

Liverpool could be about to lose a player who featured 26 times for them last season. Jurgen Klopp was a big fan.

Caoimhin Kelleher once again confirmed he could leave Liverpool this summer. It comes after a season in which he featured 26 times across all competitions, primarily because of injuries to Alisson Becker.

Once the Brazilian returned, however, he moved back into the XI, sending Kelleher back to the bench. But The latter has had a taste of regular first-team football now - and he wants more.

"The season I’ve had, I’ve played a lot of games and had that taste this season of being a number one," he told a press conference this week.

"Whether that’s at Liverpool or elsewhere, that remains to be seen, my main focus at the moment is to be number one."
