The summer transfer window may have only just shut but, the rumour mill is already beginning to turn.

Liverpool added four new players to their ranks this summer with Bradley Barcola and Ronald Araujo being the biggest coups of the lot.

Each of them will have a massive part to play for the Anfield outfit this term with the club looking to get back to their best after their below-par performance last term.

Arne Slot led his men to a fifth-place finish last time around which is why, in the end, Andoni Iraola was brought in.

Obviously, this led to the four new players being brought in and, while some were sold, with the Premier League's and Champions League's rules, certain players have had to be omitted from Liverpool's squads.

This has led to many questions arising about the future of some players and now, one of Iraola's men is already lining up a January exit.

Federico Chiesa's agents want to offer him to Napoli in the January transfer window

When Federico Chiesa was signed two years ago, everyone thought he was going to be the bargain of the window.

He only cost Liverpool around £10 million with most English fans' knowledge of him being when he led Italy to the Euro 2020 title.

The Italian was expected to be the perfect back-up to Mohamed Salah, especially with the 83-goals he's scored throughout his career.

However, thanks to injuries and a severe lack of confidence, things just haven't kicked off for the Italian and now, he's been left out of Liverpool's Champions League squad by Iraola.

Of course, he'll still be able to feature in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup but, the Champions League is one of the biggest competitions in football.

So, if Liverpool win it and he isn't part of that squad, it'll be a massive kick in the teeth.

Wataru Endo has also been left out with the Japan international likely to play a much more relaxed role this term.

And now, thanks to this omission, Chiesa's agents are scrambling to try and find him a way out of Anfield in January.

"I'm getting signs right now that Federico Chiesa is returning to Italy, and it could be the right time," Italian journalist Emanuele Cammaroto said on Radio Punto Zero.

"He wants to find some playing time, in January, his team might offer him to some Italian clubs, including Napoli."

Federico Chiesa has been a massive flop for Liverpool

As mentioned, when Chiesa first joined, fans were fairly excited.

The Italy international may have been coming off the back of a recent injury but, the performance levels he showed throughout Euro 2020 were more than enough to excite them.

And, while he has managed to contribute to 10 goals during his 50 appearances for Liverpool, these numbers are far from where they should be for a player of his calibre.

However, one of the main things that has probably kept him around is his versatility. With Hugo Ekitike still out injured, the Reds don't really have a senior striker available to be Alexander Isak's back-up.

And, as much as everyone would want Isak to play every game possible, it simply isn't viable which is likely why Chiesa is still a Liverpool player.

Naturally, he's more of a right-winger but, throughout his career, he's been used all across the front three and will probably be able to do a solid job when called upon.

But, with his agents now looking for a way out of Liverpool, it's clear that this is probably going to be the last chance for him to save his career because, after three years of stagnation, it's unlikely that many teams will want to take the risk on an injury-prone 29-year-old.
