"After the season" - Mohamed Salah on setting goals

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has opened up on how he sets goals at the end of each season.

The Egyptian international has been very successful since joining the Reds back in the summer of 2017.

Salah has won the Premier League Golden Boot on two occasions and has helped Liverpool secure the two biggest trophies in club football - the Premier League title and the Champions League.

With that being the case, the 29-year-old has provided an insight into what takes place before he wins a trophy or an individual award.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, Salah told ESPN Brasil the following: “I am really honest with myself. After the season, I tell myself what I want to achieve and what I want to improve and I just go from there. “So I am being very, very honest with myself. I give time for myself on holiday just to be alone, to be with no-one just in front of the sea, or anywhere, to be alone. “Then I write what I want to improve and what I want to achieve and go from there. As long as you are open with yourself and really honest with yourself you just think you will improve. "I wrote a lot! The first thing I wrote, I remember, was to win the Champions League again with the club and then the Premier League. I don't know why, but I put numbers next to them and I always put the Champions League first. "It motivates me during the season. From time to time I keep going back and looking at what I wrote. Just to win the Champions League and the Premier League again with this club here. That's what I can say (of future goals)."

Anfield Watch Verdict

All the best players in the world set goals. Without something to strive for, you have no reason to improve.

Salah is a talented player. But, without setting goals, it would be fair to assume that he would not be the player that he is today.

Salah appears to be the type of person that will always strive to be the best. Therefore, we have no doubt that he will continue to play at a very high level for several more years.
