Adam Lallana claims that Jurgen Klopp trusts Liverpool youngster

Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has claimed that Jurgen Klopp trusts Curtis Jones.

The 21-year-old has had a reasonable start to his senior career. Jones has scored eight goals and registered nine assists in 68 appearances for the Reds' first-team.

But, the Scouser is yet to cement his place in Klopp's starting XI. Jones has only started 15 matches for Liverpool this season.

Despite that being the case, Lallana believes that Klopp has plenty of trust in the Scouser.

“Jurgen starting Curtis [against Inter Milan in the Champions League midweek] just shows how much he trusts him,” Lallana told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport, as quoted by HITC.

“When I was there, he was still learning his trade.

“Maybe he might have taken a few too many risks. But I think he has developed into a disciplined midfielder, who knows when to express himself and when not to.

“Not to keep it simple, but know when to take risks, especially with the front three playing.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Jones has been solid for Liverpool this season. The midfielder has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.93 across the 2021-22 club campaign (21 appearances).

Therefore, it would be fair to assume that Klopp does have a fair bit of faith in Jones right now.

However, there is no denying that the German has always been a fan of the Scouser.

"I've known him for a long time and I'm one of his biggest fans," said Klopp in a post-match press conference back in January, as quoted by All Football.

"From the first day when I saw him, when the talent group trained at Melwood on a side pitch, I looked out of my office and I saw him there, 'Wow', the next question was 'How old was he?'. He was 15 at the time and it was already clear he was a massive talent."

Hopefully Jones can become a mainstay in Liverpool's midfield. There is nothing better than seeing a local lad in the side, as they understand how special it is to represent the club.

Therefore, they will always give their best when they step out onto the pitch.
