AC Milan board and owners reportedly give green light on signing Divock Origi

AC Milan are on the verge of signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi, according to TuttoMercatoWeb's Andrea Losapio, as cited by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account.

The green light to sign the Belgium international has been given by the AC Milan board and owners.

Origi, who is a free agent as of June, is expected to sign an initial three-year deal with the Serie A club. The 26-year-old will be earning €3.5 million a year at AC Milan.

Liverpool signed Origi from Lille for a transfer fee of €12.63 million back in the summer of 2014.

Since then, the forward has scored 40 goals and registered 17 assists in 171 appearances for the club's first-team.

Origi has certainly found the back of the net in some big games for the Reds. His goal in the 2019 Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur is the standout.

Origi has also won five major trophies during his time at Liverpool. Overall, the 26-year-old has proven to be a pretty good signing for the club.

However, despite being fit, Origi has only made 14 appearances for the Reds' first-team this season. The striker is behind Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz in the pecking order.

In saying that, he has still scored five goals this season.

Therefore, it would make sense for Origi to try a new challenge. As we have already pointed out, the forward is only 26 years of age, which means that he is in the prime of his career.

Origi should be playing regular senior football. So, if he does leave in the summer, there will be no hard feelings from us.
