AC Milan are reportedly close to signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi

AC Milan are on the verge of signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi, according to the Mail, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

Origi's Liverpool contract expires at the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign. The Belgium international will be able to depart the club on a free transfer come June.

According to the Mail, AC Milan will be the team that Origi is likely to sign for.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Origi from Lille for a transfer fee of €12.63 million back in the summer of 2014.

The striker has found the back of the net 40 times and registered 17 assists in 171 appearances for the Reds' first-team.

The aforementioned figures are not superb, but Origi has scored some really important goals for Liverpool.

The 26-year-old found the back of the net in the 2019 Champions League semi-finals and final. Origi also scored in the dying moments of a Merseyside derby to hand Liverpool the victory (Premier League, Anfield, 2018-19).

Whenever Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has called upon the forward, he has delivered more times than not.

With that being the case, we are going to miss Origi when he eventually departs the club. In saying that, we can understand why Origi and the club are reportedly parting ways.

As we have already pointed out, he is 26 years of age. In other words, Origi is in the prime of his career.

He should be playing regular senior football, which is something that he is not doing at Liverpool.

Despite the fact that Origi has been fit this season, he has only made 14 appearances for the club's first-team.

He is stuck behind the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota.

Origi's time at Anfield has simply come to an end, which is a shame, because he has been a fine servant for Liverpool.
