"Absolutely sensational" - Michael Owen on Thiago Alcantara's recent form

Pundit Michael Owen has recently been talking about Thiago Alcantara's form.

The Liverpool midfielder has played very well in recent times. Thiago has been running football matches from the middle of the park.

With that being the case, Owen had plenty of good things to say about the 31-year-old during BT Sport's coverage of Liverpool versus Villarreal, which took place at Anfield last night (Champions League, semi-final, first leg).

“There’s nobody that has upped their game in recent times like Thiago," the former Red said (27/3/22 7:45pm).

"A lot of people questioned whether or not he was the right style of player to play in this team, but he’s shown a different edge in recent times.

"We saw his stats there, he’s not a player who just passes it sidewards all of the time, he takes risks as well. The last few games he’s been absolutely sensational."

Anfield Watch Verdict

It is brilliant to see Thiago playing to the best of his ability. Liverpool signed the midfielder from Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of £19.80 million back in the summer of 2020.

But, Thiago has struggled to get going at Anfield for the most part. The Spaniard has picked up a number of injuries since joining Liverpool.

However, we are now seeing the best of Thiago. To be fair, we were always confident that the 31-year-old would find his feet on Merseyside.

There is a reason why Thiago has played for the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich. He is a top player.

Hopefully Thiago can stay fit and continue playing well for the remainder of his time at Liverpool. There is no denying that the Reds are a far better side when the midfielder is consistently starting.
