Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has spoke about what it means to lead the club.

In an interview with GQ, the midfielder said that the players around him make his job a lot easier.

“I never really think about it as me as an individual, to be honest. It's always a team effort and everything we do is together as a team. So many good leaders within the team," Henderson said, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

“There’s so many good characters and personalities that make my job a lot easier. Different personalities, which I think is important, but we all respect each other. It's an amazing dressing room.

“We're very serious when we get on the training pitch, but we like to have a bit of fun and we come off it in the dressing room and mess about doing different things, but it's a very close dressing room.

“That makes a big difference when you go on the pitch, the togetherness, especially in tough moments when you see it together and grind through and that's been a big plus for us over the last few years.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Even though Henderson would never admit it, when he leaves Liverpool, he is going to go down as one of the best ever captains the club has had.

Technically he might not be the best footballer we've had, but for what he has achieved since joining the Reds, he definitely deserves that title.

After winning the FA Cup final against Chelsea earlier this month, it meant that Henderson has now captained the Reds to every major trophy available.

The Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup.

For someone who was going to be sold to Fulham a few seasons after he joined Liverpool, it's definitely not a bad return.

Whatever happens in the final few years of Henderson's Liverpool career, he has written his name in the club's history forever.
