Sven-Goran Eriksson summed up his ‘beautiful’ experience managing Liverpool Legends at Anfield on Saturday afternoon. The Swede fought the emotion of it all day long.

Sven-Goran Eriksson got to live a dream of sorts on Saturday as he managed Liverpool Legends in their fixture against Ajax at Anfield. The annual legends match, held for the LFC Foundation, was a chance for Eriksson to receive a gesture from the club he's supported all his life.

The legendary manager announced earlier this year that he has terminal pancreatic cancer and has under a year to live. The revelation led to an outpour of support from world football, including Liverpool FC.

Eriksson has supported the club since he was a boy, thanks to his father being a fan. However, he never managed to coach the Reds, despite harbouring the dream.

That gave fans on social media the idea of letting him coach Liverpool Legends - essentially the next best thing. The club agreed and Eriksson got to lead out the side at Anfield.

Sven-Goran Eriksson on Anfield experience

Eriksson did a post-match interview for LFCTV alongside Steven Gerrard, his former player for England. He did his best to sum-up his experience.

"Everybody was a winner today," he said. "It was beautiful, absolutely incredible. Everything from You'll Never Walk Alone and the rest of the match - and a good win!"

Eriksson would later sum it up all more succinctly as the emotion hit him. "A memory for life!" he shouted.

Liverpool won 4-2 on the day with goals from Gregory Vignal, Djibril Cissé, Nabil El Zhar and Fernando Torres. That came after Ajax had raced into a 2-0 first-half lead at Anfield.

The Reds stormed back, though - with Gerrard claiming after the game that it was down to Eriksson's tactical changes at half-time.
