Aston Villa will not make a move for Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez anytime soon, according to The Daily Mail, as cited by Anfield Edition's Twitter account.

It was reported earlier this week that the Premier League club were interested in signing the Englishman on loan in January.

However, The Daily Mail has made it clear that Aston Villa will not be making a move for Gomez before the conclusion of the 2021-22 campaign.

Anfield Watch Verdict

We don't want to see Gomez depart Liverpool (permanently or on loan) anytime soon.

The reality is, the 24-year-old centre-back possesses experience and talent. Gomez has made 128 appearances for the club's first-team.

The Englishman also averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.78 across the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.

Gomez has only played 311 minutes of football for Liverpool so far this season. However, we are confident that the defender will be required at some stage.

The Reds are competing in a number of tournaments (Premier League, Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup). Therefore, squad rotation is necessary.
