"A hard working centre-forward" - Palace manager on Darwin Nunez
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira has given his verdict on Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez.
The Reds will face the Eagles at Anfield tonight. Ahead of the Premier League clash, Vieira was asked about Nunez.
The 46-year-old had the following to say about the Uruguay international.
"We watch games, watch football, watch it from all around Europe. He was scoring goals at his previous team and he’s well known as a striker. The players know about him," he told the club's official website, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.
"He can run in behind, stretch the opposition team. He’s closing down back fours and centre-backs. He doesn’t give them much time on the ball – he’s a fighter, he’s determined and a hard working centre-forward.
"He’s the profile of a modern centre-forward who defends really well and works hard but at the same time runs in behind and scores goals. When you look at his price tag you’re not surprised. He’s the complete striker.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Vieira's description of Nunez is spot on. There is a lot to like about the man.
Nunez has had a solid start to life at Anfield. The forward has scored two goals and registered one assist in two appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
The exciting thing about Nunez is that he is only 23 years of age. The Uruguay international has so much room for improvement.
Under Jurgen Klopp, we can only see Nunez raising his game. The German has a track record of improving players.
The Liverpool supporters love a centre-forward. So, if Nunez performs, he will be a fan favourite. Hopefully he has a very successful 2022-23 campaign.
