Here are five talking points from Liverpool’s 3-1 win vs Sheffield United at Anfield in the Premier League. Alexis Mac Allister is a genius.

Injuries easing up

Liverpool welcome three players back against Sheffield United as Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konaté both started for the first time in a while. Curtis Jones came off the bench to finally get back on the pitch, too.

Suddenly the squad feels a little more complete. Jurgen Klopp has plenty of options in midfield again, while having Konaté back is always a blessing.

It leaves just a handful of players still out, with nearly all of them due back over the next week or two. Just in time.

Darwin goes full Darwin

Darwin Nunez opened the scoring here with a pure-Darwin Nunez goal. He didn't actually know anything about it and just pressed the goalkeeper into a mistake.

It's a goal that actually broke xG modelling - it had an almost zero chance of going in. But this is Nunez we're talking about, and it ended up in the back of the net.

That's goal no.11 in the Premier League this season from the Uruguayan.

Up-and-down intensity

Liverpool started strong and suffocated Sheffield United for a long time. They didn't secure more than a 1-0 lead, however, and the Blades hit back in the second half.

The intensity dropped, much as it did at Old Trafford a few weeks ago. Sheffield United were back in it and putting some pressure on.

Unlike at Old Trafford, though, Liverpool found their intensity again. Part of that was Klopp's substitutions, which really worked here. It was enough to force two more goals and once the Reds got going again, Sheffield United never recovered.

Alexis Mac Allister

There's no doubt that Alexis Mac Allister is the best player at Liverpool right now. What he's doing every week is incredible and he took it to another level here.

Wataru Endo was out, leaving the Argentine to play the holding midfield role again. It's not his natural position - but you couldn't tell.

Mac Allister ran the game with the ball and won tackles all over the pitch. Then, with Liverpool struggling, he popped up with a magnificent strike to win the game.

Best at Liverpool and on this form, maybe the best in the Premier League.

Time to right the wrong

Liverpool have a chance to somewhat right the wrong of their Old Trafford performance. The Reds threw the FA Cup game away but next up they have a chance for a bit of revenge.

More importantly, they can eliminate any self-doubt remaining after the 4-3. Put Manchester United to the sword and Liverpool will feel incredibly confident about claiming the title.
