Liverpool FC: 4 loan players who will get a first-team chance this summer

Liverpool have a lot of players out on loan right now - but not all will get a chance with the first-team on their return. Here are four who will.

Going out on loan isn’t always a negative - it can be the making of a player. Harvey Elliott and Conor Bradley are perfect examples of that in the Liverpool first-team squad right now.

Elliott’s season with Blackburn Rovers was extraordinary for a 17/18-year-old. He picked up assists for fun in the Championship, showing enormous potential in his first full campaign.

Bradley, too, was brilliant at Bolton Wanderers last year. He won their Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year over a sensational season.

So who could follow in their footsteps? Here are four players out on loan from Liverpool right now who will get a first-team opportunity this summer.

Fabio Carvalho

Fabio Carvalho is certainly the highest-profile player out on loan right now. Originally, he was at RB Leipzig and supposed to play a role at a Champions League side - but it was a disastrous spell.

Carvalho barely played, racking up just around 180 minutes in the Bundesliga before things were cut short in January. He’s now at Hull City and performing very well.

The Portuguese playmaker’s talent means he certainly gets a look from the new manager this summer. If he impresses in the new system - whatever it may be - then a productive pre-season could even get him back in the first-team squad for the 2024/25 season.

Tyler Morton

Carvalho’s teammate at Hull right now, Tyler Morton is having a brilliant season. The 21-year-old Liverpool academy product will certainly get a chance to impress in pre-season thanks to his homegrown status and if he maintains his form, Morton could force his way into the new manager’s plans.

He’s got three goals and five assists in the Championship this season - a wonderful return. His ability to keep the ball will almost certainly intrigue whoever takes over as manager, so put it all together and he’s getting a chance to shine.

Sepp van den Berg

Sepp van den Berg has been very impressive at Mainz this season, even as they fight relegation. It’s been something of a breakout season for the Dutchman - his first full campaign in a major European league.

No matter what happens, Liverpool will field offers for Van Den Berg. We think he’ll be of interest in pre-season, though, with the Reds’ new manager possibly (likely) playing with three at the back.

Van den Berg is currently playing the role at Mainz this season, after all. If Liverpool do make the switch this year, they’ve already got one player who can adapt quickly.

Owen Beck

Once again, Liverpool’s switch of formation could come into play. Again if they move to a back three, the left-back role suddenly looks more like a wing-back role.

Beck might fancy his chances of playing that better than Kostas Tsimikas and pre-season offers him a chance to show it. At the very least, Beck will get some pre-season games to show what he can do.

And as someone who’s impressing on loan at Dundee this season, transferring his form to pre-season could see him leapfrog more senior players for a place in the first-team squad.
