McConnell is not alone though, another one of the club's academy prospects has also earned his inaugural call to the Three Lions, although a little bit belatedly.

Joshua Sonni-Lambie earns first England call

One of the most promising young players in Liverpool's academy is Joshua Sonni-Lambie. Spotted at the age of 14 at grassroots level in London, Sonni-Lambie has been playing U18 football at a young age for Liverpool.

He's recently signed his first professional contract with the club and has been likened to Roberto Firmino due to his industrious nature and technical skills.

So far this season he has the second most goal contributions (11) for Liverpool's U18 team and continues to catch the eye as one of the most promising young talents in the the club's academy.

Now it seems as though that has been recognised outside of Liverpool as well.

The 17-year-old is yet to represent England at any level on the international stage but that is about to change.

The young academy star's agency confirmed on Instagram that Sonni-Lambie earned his first international call-up to England.

The youngster has received a late call-up to the England U18 squad, who will take on Czechia, Portugal and France hosted in Portugal this month.

He will be lining up alongside other highly rated talents like Manchester City wonderkid Divine Mukasa and Southampton's Baylee Dipepa.
