Liverpool FC Academy

Liverpool FC’s academy was a relatively informal structure prior to 1998 when the club opened a new state-of-the-art training facility for the academy in Kirkby.

Since then, the academy has become a cornerstone of the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent.

It provides a structured pathway for aspiring footballers, starting from the age of six, allowing them to progress through various youth teams, including the U9s, U18s, and U21s.

This progression is vital, as it equips players with the skills and experience needed to compete at higher levels, including the first team.

The academy is renowned for its exceptional training programs and has produced some outstanding players.

It remains a pivotal part of the club and a key area of focus.

By developing homegrown talent, Liverpool know they can save on high transfer fees while also generating substantial revenue from player sales thus helping to keep in line with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
