Liverpool next manager odds: MASSIVE shakeup after Xabi Alonso BOMBSHELL

The odds to become the next Liverpool manager are starting to reshape after Xabi Alonso's recent statement, and we have a new favourite.

The Bayer Leverkusen boss confirmed that he will stay at the BayArena next season, dashing Liverpool's hopes of the former Red replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season.

The Daily Mail reported that 'Liverpool were never confident on appointing Alonso despite strong external links', with Bayern Munich having also admitted defeat in their pursuit of the 42-year-old.

By Friday morning, focus was turning to the man seen as the next likeliest Reds' target - Sporting CP boss Ruben Amorim. Reliable journalist Paul Joyce claims he has a release clause in his contract set at £17m.

Despite having declared his commitment to Leverkusen, Alonso remains fourth favourite as things stand, although that could change significantly in the coming days.

Klopp's current Anfield assistant Pep Lijnders - this week linked with Dutch giants Ajax - is available at 14/1. Two other big guns come next in the shape of Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou and former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.
