Liverpool to hand 3 players a GOLDEN opportunity to impress Arne Slot next month
Liverpool will give three young players a golden opportunity to impress Arne Slot in preseason. The chance will make or break their Anfield careers.
Preseason is almost upon us and Liverpool's players will work under new head coach Arne Slot for the first time. For some, this will be about learning a new playing style and adapting for what promises to be a massive season.
For others, it's about taking the opportunity to earn a place in the first-team squad. There's someone with new ideas calling the shots, after all - if you didn't quite make it under Jurgen Klopp, here's a chance to impress under fresh eyes.
Three of those players getting opportunities to do just that were out on loan last season. They're also the subject of interest this summer, as clubs look to capitalise on them potentially failing to impress Slot.
Tyler Morton
The Daily Mail are just one of several outlets reporting that Tyler Morton has RB Leipzig looking at him. The German side lead the chase for the midfielder, but Bournemouth, Southampton and Ipswich Town would all lover to pick up the youngster.
Liverpool, though, aren't looking to sell just yet. The Athletic reports that Morton will be given the opportunity to impress Slot this summer with a place in the Reds' preseason squad.
If Morton succeeds, perhaps there's a place waiting for him in the full senior squad.
Fabio Carvalho
Fabio Carvalho is a really interesting one. He was fantastic for Fulham in their promotion season, earning his move to Liverpool. The Reds' poor campaign, however, forced Carvalho onto the sidelines and led to a loan one year ago with RB Leipzig.
He barely played there, amassing under 180 minutes of Bundesliga football in six months. Carvalho was recalled and then sent to Hull City (where Morton was, incidentally).
The Portuguese playmaker was fantastic there and enters preseason revitalised. He now has a chance to show that as Slot builds his first squad.
There are clubs waiting if he doesn't make it at Liverpool, though. The Daily Mail mentions Fulham, Southampton, Leicester City and clubs all over Europe as watching the situation.
Sepp van den Berg
Liverpool value Sepp van den Berg at around £20m but they won't immediately sell the defender. He's going to be in their preseason squad after failing to break through under Klopp.
But it's a tricky one. Van den Berg was fantastic for Mainz last season, proving he can play at the top level. It's left him unwilling to remain a 'young' player at Liverpool - he wants regular first-team football.
Van den Berg publicly announced that he wanted to leave Liverpool a few weeks ago. He also accused Liverpool of hurting his career with their position on him - a high asking price but no proper opportunities.
Things have changed this summer, however, with Slot coming in. On the back of a stellar season, it could be the summer he finally secures that first-team place.
