Here’s all your latest Liverpool FC news to catch up on. The Reds have been recognised with award nominations.

Liverpool up for awards

Liverpool have been recognised for their displays in September with a few award nominations. The Reds are the only club with two players up for Player of the Month - Luis Diaz and Ryan Gravenberch got nods there.

Arne Slot is also on the shortlist for manager of the month (and possibly the favourite to win it), while Darwin Nunez could win Goal of the Month for his effort against Bournemouth.

Gravenberch actually received a second nod, too - he's Liverpool's Player of the Month for September. Fully deserved.

FSG NOT expected to complete mega-deal

An insider has shared a ‘definitive’ update on Liverpool owners FSG and a potential mega-deal that would rock the sporting world.

The Boston Celtics are up for sale and Fenway Sports Group has had their name in mix from the start. Though, they haven't actually done anything to force that.

But FSG already own the MLB franchise the Boston Red Sox, making them obvious candidates to move for the Celtics. At least, that's the thinking.

The Boston Herald mentioned FSG in an article on the sale but also admitted that there were mixed reports. Now a Boston insider has made it clear that the ownership group really don't have any interest in buying the Celtics.

"It was told to me, by someone very high up on the food chain, very matter-of-factly that as it currently stands, Fenway Sports Group has shown no interest in purchasing the Boston Celtics," Rob Bradford told WEEI Boston.

"And they have not reached out in potentially dipping their toe in that water."

Bradford goes on to explain that FSG have not made any moves in that direction and things would have to change dramatically for them to purchase the Celtics.

Lijnders faces revolt

According to Kronen Zeitung, some RB Salzburg players have become puzzled at Pep Lijnders’ team selection and feel that the manager’s pre-existing relationship with Bobby Clark and Stefan Bajcetic is why they have featured so heavily for the Austrian outfit.

The suggestion here is that players don't believe the pair are good enough to start for Salzburg. Only Lijnders' history with them explains why he'd pick them over others.

Lijnders was at one point tipped to be a candidate to take over from Jurgen Klopp, even before the legendary German manager announced his departure from the club, but the Dutchman's managerial career appears it could be stuttering already.

RB Salzburg supporters and players will want to see more from Lijnders but will also want more from Bajcetic and Clark, who need to prove they are deserving of a place in the starting XI.

James Blunt has promised to legally change his name if the re-release of his debut studio album hits number one in the charts, with a Liverpool cult hero’s name a potential choice.

The singer has asked his Twitter followers to suggest a new name in the replies to his tweet, with the most liked suggestion being the one he'll choose.

"I’m legally changing my name if ‘Back To Bedlam’ 20th Anniversary Edition reaches No.1," he said.

"Comment your name suggestions below, and the most-liked comment wins."

There have been plenty of suggestions so far, with the inevitable 'Blunty McBluntface' a popular option, but one Liverpool hero's name has been suggested and is the most-liked response so far.

Darwin given advice

Against Bournemouth in the Premier League, Darwin Nunez had proven some of his doubters wrong by scoring a wonderful goal and showing he has a lot to offer this side.

The same cannot be said for Nunez’s performance against Bologna, which left fans and commentators wanting more from the forward.

During the match Liverpool legend Steve McManaman, who was on commentary for TNT Sports, gave his thoughts on what Nunez needs to do to improve at Liverpool.

“[Nunez] needs to score goals that goes without saying but his overall play, his hold-up play, bringing other people into the game, that has to improve.

“When the ball goes up to him, he needs to control it, he needs it to stick he needs to pass the ball to a fellow teammate in red that’s all you can do.

“Once the ball comes into the danger area you need to get on the end of it and score four out of five instead of two out of five it is as simple as that. It has always been the case playing centre forward for Liverpool."
