Liverpool's former sporting director Julian Ward has returned to the club as Fenway Sports Group's new technical director.
Ward, who left Liverpool in 2023 to take a break from football, has rejected plenty of offers from across Europe since being out of the game, but has been convinced to return to Anfield by FSG's CEO of Football Michael Edwards, according to The Athletic.
Ward's duties will include 'overseeing player development' and 'oversight of Liverpool's academy and FSG's loan department'. He will work alongside current sporting director Richard Hughes.
Liverpool have also hired Benfica's technical director Pedro Marques as the club's director of football development, with both him and Ward starting their new roles on Saturday 1 June.
