Liverpool FC news recap: De Zerbi SUITORS, Konate RISK, Bajcetic CLOSE

It may be the international break, but there is still plenty going on at Liverpool behind the scenes, with players and managers alike being linked to the club.

Here's your Liverpool FC news recap for Monday 25 March.

Richard Hughes is a big De Zerbi fan

Liverpool's search for a new manager to replace the outgoing Jurgen Klopp may have taken a fresh twist since the appointment of Richard Hughes as the club's new sporting director.

While it seems practically a given that Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim are top of the list, one name that could come to the fore now is that of Brighton and Hove Albion's Roberto De Zerbi.

According to The Mail, Hughes is a known admirer of the Italian coach and has a longstanding affinity for his coaching style.

Bayern Munich 'contact' backup manager

It would seem that Bayern Munich's new head of sport, Max Eberl, is also a fan of Roberto De Zerbi.

According to Christian Falk of BILD, Bayern are already looking at backup options in the event that Xabi Alonso turns them down.

It is reported that Eberl has already reached out to the Brighton coach.

Two ex-Reds nominated for Premier League Hall of Fame

The Premier League Hall of Fame is gearing up to welcome two more new members this year, and two familiar faces from Liverpool's past are among the 15-man shortlist: Robbie Fowler and Michael Owen.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that the duo has been nominated for induction, but they have continually missed out in the public vote.

Supporters who want to vote for Fowler and Owen can do so here.

Another youngster with a famous dad makes Liverpool debut

Liverpool fans have another familiar name to watch out for on the club's books, with Prince Kobe Cisse now making his debut for Liverpool Under-18s.

Yes, you guessed it, Prince is the son of eccentric former Liverpool striker Djibril who spent two seasons at Anfield between 2004 and 2006.

Fernando Torres makes bold Xabi Alonso statement

Fernando Torres has endorsed Xabi Alonso amid rumours linking him with the Liverpool job this summer, labelling him "one of the best managers in the world".

Speaking about the Leverkusen boss, Torres said (via Liverpool Echo): "I think he’s doing great, fantastic player and he is already a fantastic manager.

"He’s a really nice guy, I’ve got a nice friendship with him and I hope for him all the best. We have seen in the Sociedad academy he is doing really good things, now you can see he has become one of the best managers in the world."

France to take Konate risk in friendly

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate is 'expected' to be in the starting lineup for France's friendly against Chile on Tuesday night, despite his recent injury issues.

The 24-year-old defender was called up by Didier Deschamps for Les Bleus' March internationals, despite missing the last three Liverpool matches through injury.

Bajcetic teases injury return with social media post

Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has teased his return to fitness on Instagram in what will be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp

The young midfielder has played just twice this season having struggled with numerous injury setbacks, with the Spaniard having not featured in a Premier League game in over a year.

Liverpool scout Serie A star but face battle for his signature

Liverpool face an almighty battle with Juventus to capture the signature of Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners this summer, with the Reds having scouted the Dutch midfielder.

Despite Liverpool signing four midfielders last summer and now looking well-stocked in the engine room with a good range of age profiles, the Reds continue to be linked with new additions in the centre of the park.

One of those that has been frequently touted with an Anfield move is Atalanta's Koopmeiners, with the 26-year-old having claimed he will definitely leave Bergamo this summer.
