Slot transfer ADMISSION, Robertson INJURY & goalkeeper LEAVES - Liverpool FC news recap
Here is the latest Liverpool FC news as the Reds prepare for their second pre-season outing in the early hours of Saturday morning against Real Betis.
ARNE SLOT MAKES TRANSFER ADMISSION
New Liverpool head coach Arne Slot admits he would be ‘surprised’ if the club ended up not signing any players this summer.
While the Reds are reported to be chasing young talents like Alvin Ayman and Rio Ngumoha, there have been no deals completed around the first team.
There are gaps in the squad to be filled with Adrian, Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip leaving after their contracts expired, but so far sporting director Richard Hughes has not conducted any business.
That said, the former Feyenoord manager believes new players will be recruited before the window closes.
"The first aim is to work with these players,” Slot told the press ahead of Liverpool’s pre-season friendly against Real Betis in Pittsburgh.
"If there’s any news on that [transfers] we will come to you. We already have a good team, but it would be a surprise for all of us if we don't bring any player in. That will probably happen in the end. For now, we’re just waiting for the players to come back and the right ones to sign."

ANDY ROBERTSON SUFFERS INJURY SETBACK
Arne Slot confirmed that key Liverpool man Andy Robertson ended last season with an injury issue, taking it into the European Championships with Scotland.
This demonstrates Robertson’s commitment to the cause but it has now dented his start to the new season as he will not be available for any of the games on the USA tour.
There already seems to be some doubt as to when he will be back with Slot not knowing whether it will be towards the end of the tour or just after it has concluded.
"He is not fully fit yet," the former Feyenoord coach told a press conference ahead of the Reds' friendly against Real Betis.
"But we are expecting him in the end of the tour, maybe just after the tour, to be fully fit again."

FABIAN MROZEK SECURES LOAN MOVE
Liverpool have confirmed that academy goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek has joined Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna on a short loan after signing a new contract extension with the Reds.
Mrozek has penned a new deal with Liverpool before he makes the temporary move to Scandinavia, with the 20-year-old securing the first senior switch of his career to date.
The loan will expire in January 2025 but it's believed that Brommapojkarna will have the option to extend the deal should Mrozek make a positive impression.
The Polish stopper joined the Reds in 2020 and is yet to make a senior appearance, although he did feature on the bench during six first-team matches last season.
He made 13 appearances in Premier League 2 as well, keeping five clean sheets as Liverpool finished the 2023/24 campaign in eighth spot.

JOHN BARNES HAILS IMPORTANT STEFAN BAJCETIC
Former Red John Barnes believes that Liverpool’s Stefan Bajcetic can be their version of Rodri now that he is back from a long-term injury.
Bajcetic burst onto the scene for Liverpool back in the 2022/23 season when the Reds were going through a tough period of form around Christmas time.
However, the young defensive midfielder struggled with injuries last season, seldom featuring for the Reds during Klopp's final term.
Legendary Liverpool figure Barnes has had his say on Bajcetic’s future at Anfield amid transfer links with midfield players.
Speaking to bettingexpert.com he said: “He’s an out and out number six. Everyone is now raving about Rodri and I’ve been talking about the importance of a good defensive midfielder for a long time and how vital they are to the team.
"We’ve brought [Wataru] Endo in and he’s done well but I think Bajcetic is an upgrade on Endo in terms of what he does on the ball so I’m looking forward to seeing how he does and I’m hoping that he can stay fit."
