'Frightening’ Mo Salah has one pundit excited about Liverpool star

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor loved what he saw from one ‘frightening’ player in the 4-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday.

Liverpool were electric on Sunday as Arne Slot took charge of a side at Anfield for the first time. The Reds were 3-0 up by half-time thanks to three sensational goals.

Diogo Jota got the opener with a magnificent volley after a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. Luis Diaz then made it 2-0 by rifling a finish into the top corner.

Then Diaz got a second after brilliant buildup play. Liverpool moved the ball from Alisson's six-yard box to the back of Sevilla's net in just four passes - Dominik Szoboszlai made the final one to set up the Colombian.

The second half was a far slower affair - you could visibly see Liverpool let the intensity drop. There was still a reason to celebrate, however, as Trey Nyoni found the back of the net. A wonderful way for him to cap off a massive preseason.

One name you might have noticed is absent, though, is Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian got no goals or assists here, and yet there's a sense that he might have been the most impressive player on the pitch.

Salah's running with the ball early on terrified Sevilla. Diaz and Jota ended up with so much space to score because of Salah, who drew so much attention to his side of the pitch.

Szoboszlai took advantage for the third, too. He ran in behind Salah, who occupied defenders once again.

Mellor on Salah

Neil Mellor, doing punditry for LFCTV, was seriously impressed with Salah. He feels he might have been the big takeaway from the game.

"The big thing for Liverpool fans is we've got Mo Salah raring to go, which will be frightening for the rest of the Premier League," he said after the game.

Mellor then went on to say that "he will be a big problem for Premier League defences again this season".

We're certainly not going to argue with that. Salah looks incredibly sharp and given he's one of the few stars with a full preseason under his belt, the Reds' no.11 looks certain to lead the side once again.
