Man United already suffer DOUBLE injury blow for Premier League clash vs Liverpool
Manchester United have already suffered a double injury blow ahead of their massive Premier League meeting with Liverpool. A pair of key players will not feature.
Liverpool take on Manchester United in the final friendly of their trip to the USA. It'll take place on Sunday in South Carolina and should give us a bit of a club of what to expect in their upcoming Premier League clash.
The Reds will travel to Old Trafford on the 1st of September - just their third fixture of the season. It's always a massive occasion and so it's an early boost to Liverpool that United have suffered an injury blow.
Not just one, either - they've suffered a double injury blow that sees two key players ruled out already. Perhaps the most high-profile is Leny Yoro.
Yoro was a shock signing for United this summer. Liverpool actually wanted him, too, but such was the belief that he was off to Real Madrid that the Reds pretty much gave up.
It took a mammoth bid from Old Trafford to pick him up - but he's immediately got a problem. Yoro has a metatarsal problem and will now miss the next three months, per Sky Sports.
Not only that, but United will be missing Rasmus Hojlund for the next six weeks. He's pulled his hamstring, keeping him out of action for the foreseeable future.
While there's a slim chance that Hojlund could recover in time for Liverpool, a hamstring problem is unlikely to be something United take any risks with.
United suffer injury blow
It's not a fixture we've paid too much attention to up to now - but it's coming up fast. It promises to be the first major test of Arne Slot's era and is one of the biggest games of the season no matter when it takes place.
It's difficult to understate just how much of a boost it would be for Liverpool to win that fixture. A win cements a positive atmosphere under Slot - even if the Reds lose against Ipswich and Brentford.
So United being weakened certainly make a win more likely. There still a lot that could change between now and then but we're already getting an idea of what to expect.
