Liverpool's 10 best goals of the 2023/24 season

Rather fittingly, Jurgen Klopp's final season in charge of Liverpool has been a rollercoaster ride.Β

It was a transitional campaign for the Reds as they spent big in last summer's transfer market and Liverpool finished the term with the Carabao Cup tucked under their arms and Champions League qualification secured.

It may not have turned out to be Klopp's most trophy-laden campaign on Merseyside, but few come close in terms of the sheer volume of absolute screamers.

The likes of Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have produced some memorable strikes, with a range of brilliant goals from the first kick until the last.

Here are the ten best goals Liverpool have scored during the 2023/24 season

10. CONOR BRADLEY VS CHELSEA

Conor Bradley announced himself as a Liverpool player in his first Premier League start at Anfield with a stunning all-round display during a 4-1 win over Chelsea.

The Northern Irish youngster produced two excellent assists and also popped up with an absolute corker of his own to open his Liverpool account.

Receiving the ball from Luis Diaz, the right-back drove forward from deep and unleashed a sensational low effort that arrowed past Djordje Petrovic in the Chelsea goal.

9. DARWIN NUNEZ VS BOURNEMOUTH

Liverpool may not have added another Carabao Cup to the trophy cabinet if it wasn't for Nunez's exquisite strike against Bournemouth in the fourth round.

With the game tied 1-1, the Uruguayan made up for a bad first touch in the Bournemouth wind by rattling a stupendous dipping effort into the far top corner.

The match-winner on the south coast, it was a goal that summed Nunez up perfectly.

8. DARWIN NUNEZ VS BRENTFORD

A finish that was perhaps a little uncharacteristic of Nunez, the South American scored another beauty when Liverpool travelled to west London to face Brentford.

The former Benfica man was set free by Diogo Jota's excellent header following a quick counter-attack and with just the goalkeeper to beat, Nunez scooped the ball delicately over a helpless Mark Flekken.

It was far from the simplest choice of finish, but when does Nunez ever take the easy route to goal?

7. VIRGIL VAN DIJK VS CHELSEA

Yes, Liverpool have scored far more technically impressive goals this season, but none have been as important as Virgil van Dijk's header at Wembley.

The goal that won Liverpool the Carabao Cup in the 118th minute of the match, the Dutchman rose highest and redirected Kostas Tsimikas' enticing cross into the far corner.

A captain's contribution from Van Dijk and a mighty fine header too.

6. TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD VS FULHAM

While Trent Alexander-Arnold's late winner in the 4-3 clash with Fulham at Anfield was a much more significant strike, his free kick in the reverse fixture at Craven Cottage was a superior effort.

With Liverpool having struggled for goals ahead of their trip to west London, Alexander-Arnold produced a subline and pinpoint free kick from 25 yards out that flew beyond the outstretched glove of Bernd Leno.

Another excellent set-piece strike to add to the right-back's collection.

5. DARWIN NUNEZ VS NEWCASTLE

One of the truly great moments of the Klopp era, Nunez enters the top ten for a third time with his pair of brilliant and timely strikes against Newcastle United.

With the Reds down to ten men and a goal behind heading into the final ten minutes, super sub Nunez produced a brace to win it for Liverpool against all odds.

While we're cheating slightly here, both goals are just as crucial and beautiful as one another, so we felt it would be wrong to separate them.

4. HARVEY ELLIOTT VS TOTTENHAM

Liverpool found themselves out of the title race when Tottenham visited Anfield with three games of the season to spare, but the Reds still managed to get some sweet revenge after their controversial defeat in north London earlier in the campaign.

Harvey Elliott inspired Liverpool to a brilliant victory and scored the pick of the four goals, firing a powerful and accurate strike past Guglielmo Vicario from the edge of the area.

If anyone deserved to score such a goal this season, it was Elliott.

3. ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER VS SHEFFIELD UNITED

Mac Allister has been a regular provider of beautiful goals in his debut season and one of his best came against Sheffield United in early April.

The Blades had netted a surprise equaliser after Nunez's opener and the Reds went frantically searching for a winner in front of the Kop -Β  something Mac Allister provided in style.

The ball bounced out to the Argentine on the edge of the area and he thundered a venomous strike into the top corner to send Liverpool on their way to victory.

2. DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI VS LEICESTER

Speaking of powerful strikes, Mac Allister isn't the only midfielder to have produced a rocket this season.

During Szoboszlai's purple patch of form at the beginning of the campaign, Liverpool fans thought that they were going to be witnessing thunderbolts from the Hungarian every week after he netted a beautiful drilled effort against Aston Villa four games into the season.

He produced another screamer at Anfield in the third round of the Carabao Cup, smashing a vicious effort off the underside of the crossbar and into the back of the Leicester City net from 25 yards.

1. ALEXIS MAC ALLISTER VS FULHAM

Only one Liverpool player won the Premier League Goal of the Month award this season and that was Mac Allister for his truly outrageous effort against Fulham.

Despite the game finishing in remarkable fashion with two late Liverpool goals, Mac Allister's sensational hit wasn't lost in the haze of a crazy contest that ended 4-3.

With the score just 1-1 at the time, the World Cup winner let the ball run across his body before striking it on the volley from 30 yards out. It dipped and swerved on its way to Leno's goal, eventually nestling beautifully in the top corner.
