Liverpool supporters AGREE on position Reds must bolster this summer

Liverpool supporters have been voting on which position the Reds should prioritise in the summer transfer window, with the majority in agreement over where Arne Slot's squad needs strengthening.

It's been a quiet transfer window for the Reds to date despite changes in the dugout and behind the scenes, and it's not expected to get much busier as the weeks pass.

However, there is the possibility that Liverpool bolster their ranks in some shape or form this summer, with several academy acquisitions all the business that has been done so far.

There are three positions that the Reds could reinforce before the window slams shut: centre-back, defensive midfield and/or wide forward.

The Reds have been linked with plenty of players in each position, but it seems increasingly unlikely that they will sign players in all three departments.

So, which position should Liverpool prioritise?

LIVERPOOL FANS AGREE ON NEW DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER

On X (formerly Twitter), we at Anfield Watch asked supporters which one of the three aforementioned positions they would choose to bolster this summer should the Reds only sure up one area of the pitch.

The response was fairly conclusive, with the majority of fans suggesting that a new defensive midfielder is essential this summer.

In fact, from 4,508 votes, a remarkable 68% said that recruiting a new defensive midfielder should be priority number one for sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team.

24.4% of fans voted that the Reds need to sign a new centre-back in the next six weeks, while only 7.6% claimed that Liverpool need a new winger.

Liverpool did sign four midfielders last summer but there is still the sense that the Reds could do with an experienced new number six.

Wataru Endo did an admirable job at the base of midfield but is now 31, while youngsters Tyler Morton and Stefan Bajcetic are relatively untested at the top level.

There have been several names in that role linked with Anfield, including Atalanta star Ederson, but it remains to be seen how the Reds will approach the rest of the transfer window.
