'Shows I’m still part of their plans'; Liverpool haven't forgotten Fabio Carvalho

Fabio Carvalho knows he’s still a part of the plans at Liverpool, despite a strange season with two loan spells.

Fabio Carvalho is enjoying his time at Hull City - and a good thing, too. The playmaker's time with RB Leipzig to start the campaign was a disaster, with well under 200 minutes in the Bundesliga across five months.

Few could have even imagined that he'd play so little. It was bad enough that Liverpool cancelled the loan deal ahead of the January transfer window and immediately searched for a new one.

They found it at Hull, with Carvalho willing to drop back into the Championship. It is, after all, the league in which he made his name as a star during Fulham's promotion season.

And Carvalho found his feet again. He's enjoyed a fantastic run of form at Hull, scoring consistently in their playoff charge.

Is it enough for force his way back into the frame at Liverpool next season, though? At the very least, Carvalho knows the Reds are watching.

“Yeah [they have been in touch], especially before I came here,” Carvalho told the Liverpool Echo. “Obviously in that transition when I was going from Leipzig to here. A lot.

“Matt Newbury, the gaffer himself has dropped me a few messages, the sporting directors, the owner as well - they’ve been in contact with me which I appreciate because it shows that I’m still part of their plans.

“That’s what you want from your club, wherever you’re on loan. You want to be shown love and you want to be shown that you’re wanted. That’s the most important thing.”

Of course, the people talking with Carvalho this season aren't necessarily the ones he'll be looking to impress this summer. There'll be a new manager, after all, and a lot of the coaching staff will change.

Perhaps that works in his favour. Carvalho could use a clean slate at Liverpool and he'll get exactly that - a chance to impress a brand-new manager on the back of a very positive loan spell.
