Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez could look for a move away from Anfield come January, according to 90mins journalist Graeme Bailey, as cited by Anfield Edition's Twitter account.

The report states that the 24-year-old is becoming agitated over his lack of playing time. Gomez has only played 221 minutes of football for the Reds so far this season.

With that being the case, the Englishman could look for more opportunity elsewhere if his playing time does not increase by January.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Gomez is a talented defender. The centre-back averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.78 across the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.

However, as things stand, Gomez is behind both Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip in the pecking order.

With that being the case, it is going to be hard for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to guarantee Gomez playing time for the remainder of the season.

The report from Bailey does state that the 24-year-old wants to represent England at the 2022 World Cup.

Therefore, it would be fair to assume that Gomez needs to be playing if he wants to be selected in Gareth Southgate's squad.

The Englishman might need a move away from Anfield come January if he wishes to be selected for England, but we don't want to see him leave.

The reality is, Gomez adds quality and depth to Liverpool's defence. We do hope that the aforementioned report is false.
