Liverpool have they have struck a new deal with one of the club's most promising young midfielders.

The Reds are renowned for wanting to promote the next wave of talent in the Liverpool first team and have integrated plenty of young players into the senior set-up over the years.

From Trent Alexander-Arnold to Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott.

Meanwhile, last season the likes of Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley have established themselves as key members of the club's first team squad.

And the latest young talent who is hoping to follow in their footsteps is Trey Nyoni.

Liverpool confirm Trey Nyoni new deal

The club announced on its official website that Nyoni has signed his first professional contract with the Reds.

Nyoni only turned 17 years old in the summer and has been on a youth contract with the club, but it seems like the two sides have now come to an agreement over a professional deal.

It's a significant deal for the youngster who has been catching Arne Slot's eyes both in first team training and pre-season.

Not to mention Nyoni has been in great form for England's youth sides and the Reds' academy teams since the start of the new campaign.

The Liverpool youngster is very highly regarded in English football. Last season as per Liverpool ECHO's Theo Squires, Jurgen Klopp described the youngster as 'special.'

Liverpool will be delighted with Nyoni now committing his future to the club.

He is clearly part of the bigger picture at Anfield as Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes look to herald the post-Klopp era.

What's next for Trey Nyoni?

However, it's important not to get too carried away. Nyoni is still a teenager and although he is highly rated, Liverpool will want to be careful in not giving him too many minutes too soon.

His body is still growing and Slot will be cautious about how much he exposes him to the senior environment.

At this stage in their career, a players' trajectory can be volatile.

Nonetheless, Liverpool fans should be keeping a close eye on his development in the coming months and years. Nyoni is clearly regarded as the club's future and the Reds' latest announcement is proof of that.
