Liverpool transfers: Fabrizio Romano reveals truth on Darwin Nunez to Arsenal rumours
After a surge in social media speculation, Fabrizio Romano has shared the truth around rumours linking Darwin Nunez with a shock move to Arsenal.
Rumours of a last-minute move for Nunez by the Gunners started to spread across social media earlier this week, and given the very speculative nature of the information it was just enough to get Liverpool fans hot under the collar, despite little in the way of concrete information linking Arsenal with having interest in the Uruguayan striker.
Now Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the speculation, posting on his Daily Briefing about whether there was any legs to this story.
Romano: I don’t know where this has come from
“I wanted to say something on Darwin Nunez after some surprise stories about Arsenal. I don’t know where this has come from, but I’ve had many questions about this and so I spoke to some of my sources, and I can honestly say there is nothing,” Romano wrote.
He continued: “In general, it’s also not true that Nunez is pushing to leave Liverpool - it’s important to clarify that he is absolutely not planning to leave Liverpool, I can guarantee this. He is really focused on Liverpool and really happy with Arne Slot. Of course it will be an important season for him, but it’s never been a possibility for him to leave this summer and he never asked to go.”
Liverpool supporters will surely feel more relaxed now knowing that what little chance there had been of these rumours being true has surely been quashed by Romano’s comments.
It’s been an inauspicious start to the season for Nunez with the Reds, only getting some time off the bench towards the end of the recent 2-0 win over Brentford at Anfield so far, not to mention a five-match ban after the scenes of disorder during Uruguay’s Copa America game with Colombia.
